How to Pick the Right Salon for You

Looking for a new salon? Choosing the right professional hair care is critical! A great stylist can make you look like a diva, while a bad one can turn you into a hermit overnight. So, take your time and look for the right fit.

Ask for referrals: Ask your friends, family or people around you for salon recommendations. If you admire someone’s hairstyle, ask them where they get it done. Nothing works better than a personal recommendation. The location may also be important to you, but a good stylist could be worth trekking to the other side of town! Once you have a shortlist, check the website. It will give you a good idea about their services and rates.

Prices: There is no use visiting a highly recommended salon, only to find out that the price range is completely out of your budget. You don’t need to visit them to know their rates. If the website does not give you the right information, just call them. But keep in mind that there could be different pricing combinations. For instance, a cut and blow dry will cost more than just a cut. A trim may cost less than a new haircut. You can also check if they have membership plans that are more economical for you.

Visit the salon.  If it looks busy and clean with a modern look, chances are you’ve come to the right place. Do you like the hairstyles you see on other clients? Ask them if they are happy with the services they are getting. (Just be discreet!)

Meet the stylist. Ask them what they would recommend for you.

A good stylist will take your input, but will also give you practical advice on which cut suits your face and lifestyle. You should feel comfortable with the stylist and there should be a feeling of trust.

Services: Are you looking for more than just professional hair care? If you want services like waxing, facials, pedicures, and manicures, check if the salon offers these as well. Although it’s not at all necessary to look for all your personal grooming services at one point, some of us may find it preferable. Check the services offered on their webpage.

Tools: Are their hair tools well maintained? For example, does the blow dryer look clean and the flat iron look well taken care of? A great salon will use exceptional hair products that are incredibly well cared for.
