The #CurlyGirlMethod is the new movement, all about maintaining a good haircare routine. Many of us reading this know about the importance of any kind of wellness routine. Skincare has swept the nation within the last year, with K Beauty being the industry leaders world wide; And this time, haircare is finally making its mark.

Most of the tips mentioned here can apply to almost any kind of hair, but it’s certainly applicable for those with curls.

Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle

And NEVER a brush. Why? Because curly hair is the most fragile type because of the coils, so they’re at the highest risk of breaking. By using a wide-tooth comb, the natural curl pattern in your hair won’t get disrupted as easily, and snap; it’s arguably the gentlest way to detangle your hair.

Comb from bottom up

Starting at the ends of your hair, begin gently detangling with a wide-tooth comb, and slowly work your way to the top. Be kind to your hair! Especially when it’s wet- it’s at it’s most fragile and prone to breakage.

Trim regularly

We have never heard of someone say they “love their split ends”, have you? Not only does it make your hair frizz, but if it’s not maintained and controlled, it can split your hair further up the root. Keep your curls healthy, bouncy, and fresh by getting them snipped every 6-8 weeks. You’ll be surprised to see how quickly it grows.

Product “cocktailing”

This is a great way to customize your haircare regimen! In skincare, this is highly encouraged by some as it allows you to mix two products to get the best benefits of both in one single, powerful dose. Depending on what you’re looking for, whether it’s a tight curl, or a loose curl, product cocktailing is perfect for getting the best of both worlds.

Deep condition your ends

Because curly hair is prone to more dehydration and moisture loss than straight hair, deep conditioning treatments are the knight in shining armor (especially during the cold winter months). Doing treatments gives your hair the extra love it deserves in order to make it bouncy, full, and moveable.

Use a diffuser

If you want your curls to have more bounce and body, using a diffuser will help. It’s a simple attachment that goes on your hairdryer. It minimizes frizz and helps even out your curl pattern, boosting the volume.

Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner

Sulfates dry out your hair and scalp, so always look for shampoo and conditioner that are free of both sulfates and parabens. This will increase the longevity of your hair.

By using these methods, your curls will transform into luscious locks of sheer envy. Promise.

XOXO,

PIAM.
